Background
Innovation: Africa (iA) is an Israeli non-profit organization composed of a team of dedicated problem solvers working together to bring solar and water technologies to rural communities in Africa. With a mission to provide sustainable solutions, iA utilizes solar energy to pump clean water and bring light to schools and medical clinics for storing vaccines and medicines. Over the years, iA has successfully completed more than 1,100 solar, water, and agricultural projects, positively impacting the lives of over 5.5 million people in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Cameroon, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer with a deep understanding of the international development landscape and proven success in securing funding from large institutions (e.g., UNICEF, USAID, etc.) and family foundations. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in grant writing, particularly in international development, and be a native English speaker with excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify funding opportunities from large institutions, government agencies, and family foundations.
- Write, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, reports, and letters of inquiry.
- Develop a strategic approach for securing grants, tailoring content to match funder priorities and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather relevant information and data to support grant proposals.
- Track proposal submissions and manage timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Maintain relationships with current funders and explore opportunities for renewal or expansion of support.
- Assist in developing long-term fundraising strategies to support organizational growth.

Qualifications
- Native-level English speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 5+ years of experience in grant writing, with a focus on international development.
- Proven track record of securing grants from large institutions (e.g., UNICEF, USAID, EU) and family foundations.
- Strong understanding of the international development sector and funding landscapes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, with sensitivity to diverse teams and global issues.
- Strong research and analytical skills to identify trends, opportunities, and priorities of potential funders.
Preferred
- Familiarity with major funders in the international development and humanitarian sectors.
- Previous experience working with international NGOs, multilateral agencies, or related fields.
